Quick reference table
These notes are practical planning references. Final suitability depends on the actual cable datasheets, conduit type, route geometry, local standards, and installation method.
| Situation | Planning guidance | Practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Single cable in conduit | Keep practical spare space | One cable still needs pull room, bend-radius room, and future service access. |
| Two cables in conduit | Avoid a tight fit | Two cables can bind during pulling, especially around bends or long routes. |
| Three or more cables | Plan by fill area, not cable count | Use cable outside diameter and total cable area instead of guessing by quantity. |
| Mixed cable bundle | Calculate each cable type separately | Different ODs add up quickly. Cat6A, fiber trunks and coax should not be treated as equal. |
| Long route or many bends | Upsize earlier | Pulling difficulty increases with bends, friction, cable jacket type, and route length. |
| Future expansion expected | Reserve spare capacity | A conduit that is “just enough” today may be useless for the next small change. |
